Authorities locate elderly couple missing from NW Side

An elderly husband and wife from the Northwest Side who were reported missing early Friday have been found.

Hector Fernandez, 80, and his wife, 85-year-old Maria De Fernandez, had last been seen about 10:30 p.m. Thursday when they were stopped by a police officer near 167th and La Grange Road in the southwest suburbs, according to an alert from Chicago Police.

They have since been located and reunited with their family, police said about 10:45 a.m. Friday. No other details were released.
