ARLINGTON, Texas — Jay Cutler is officially out. Cutler, who is dealing with a sprained right thumb, is among the Bears’ inactive players for Sunday night against the Cowboys.

Brian Hoyer will start in Cutler’s place. Matt Barkley, who was promoted from the practice squad last week, is the backup.

Receiver Alshon Jeffery, as expected, is active. He missed practice Thursday because of a sore right knee.

Linebacker Nick Kwiatkoski and safety Deon Bush are active for the first time this season. Kwiatkoski will start in place of Danny Trevathan, who was ruled out on Friday after undergoing thumb surgery on Wednesday.

Nickel back Bryce Callahan (concussion) and cornerback Kyle Fuller (knee) also are inactive.

Running back Ka’Deem Carey (hamstring) and defensive tackle Eddie Goldman (high-ankle sprain) did not make the trip to Dallas.

Backup center Eric Kush is inactive for the third consecutive week.
