A man was shot Saturday evening in the Longwood Manor neighborhood on the South Side.

About 5:45 p.m., the 23-year-old was sitting in a vehicle in the 9600 block of South Carpenter when someone walked up and opened fire, according to Chicago Police.

The man was shot in the forearm and was taken to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where his condition was stabilized, police said.

A police source said the man is a documented gang member.
