A man was shot early Wednesday in the South Shore neighborhood on the South Side.

The 19-year-old was standing outside about 2 a.m. in the 6800 block of South Ridgeland when a dark-colored vehicle approached and someone inside fired shots before the vehicle sped away, according to Chicago Police.

The man suffered a gunshot wound to the abdomen and was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, where his condition was stabilized, police said.
