A man was shot in the chest Monday morning in the South Side Oakland neighborhood.

About 11:45 a.m., the 26-year-old was walking in the 3900 block of South Lake Park Avenue when someone walked up, opened fire and then took off in a gray vehicle, according to Chicago Police.

He was taken in serious condition to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, police said.
