Person shot to death in Evergreen Park

A Chicago man was shot to death Thursday evening in a parking lot in southwest suburban Evergreen Park.

Officers were called about 6:45 p.m. to a Walgreens at 8700 S. Kedzie Ave. for a report of shots fired. They found 34-year-old David T. Murrell with a gunshot wound, according to Evergreen Park police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

Murrell was pronounced dead at the scene and his death was ruled a homicide, according to authorities. He lived in the 3200 block of West 85th Street in Chicago.

Witnesses said they saw three males running from the area, police said.

The shooting was being investigated by the South Suburban Major Crimes Task Force and Evergreen Park police.
