Having appreciated his contribution to their offensive line depth last season, the Bears re-signed guard/center Eric Kush to a two-year deal Wednesday.

Originally claimed off waivers from the Rams before Week 1 last year as a backup plan at center, Kush started four games at guard and participated in four more.

He will compete for the backup interior line role. The starting spots are spoken for: guards Kyle Long — whose offseason featured two surgeries — and Josh Sitton have seven Pro Bowls between them, and rookie Cody Whitehair impressed the Bears after learning his position on the fly.

Hroniss Grasu, slated to be the starting center until tearing his right ACL during a “Family Fest” practice in August, will also be in the mix.
