Man fatally shot after 5 people approached him in Austin neighborhood

A man was shot Sunday night after he was approached by a group of people in the West Side Austin neighborhood.

About 8:45 p.m., five armed people approached 36-year-old Michael Dorsey and his parked car in the 5400 block of West Division Street, Chicago Police said.

Dorsey was shot in the back and then taken in critical condition to Stroger Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, police and the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office said.

An autopsy was pending Monday night. Dorsey lived in Lawndale neighborhood.

Police initially listed the address of the shooting at 500 West Division Street.
