Man, 40, shot while trying to buy drugs in Edgewater Beach

A 40-year-old man was shot Friday evening in the Edgewater Beach neighborhood on the North Side.

The man was trying to buy drugs about 5:20 p.m. in the 5300 block of North Kenmore when someone shot him in the groin, according to Chicago Police.

He was taken to Illinois Masonic Medical Center, where his condition stabilized, police said.

Area North detectives were investigating the shooting, police said.
