A man was shot in the head and killed early Wednesday in the Avondale neighborhood on the Northwest Side.

Stephen S. Ohr, 34, was inside a home when he was shot in the head at 12:09 a.m. in the 3100 block of West Belmont Avenue, Chicago Police and the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office said. He may have been shot by a friend who was in the home with him.

Ohr was taken to Illinois Masonic Medical Center in critical condition and was pronounced dead at 1:34 a.m., authorities said. He lived in the same neighborhood.

Area North detectives were investigating.
