Actor/comedian Will Ferrell was released early Friday morning from a California hospital following an overnight hospitalization resulting from a rollover car accident Thursday night, according to reports.
In a statement released late Friday, a spokesperson from United Talent Agency, which represents Ferrell said: “While traveling back to Los Angeles after hosting a voter registration event in San Diego, a car carrying Will Ferrell and three of his colleagues was struck on the freeway by another vehicle. Will and his colleague, Andrew Steele, were unhurt and have been released from an Orange County hospital. Will’s longtime driver, Mark Thompson, and his other colleague Carolina Barlow, remain hospitalized in stable condition. Will is staying close by as his friends are being treated, and has expressed his deep gratitude to the first responders who were immediately at the scene and to the hospital team that took such great care of them. He’s also grateful for all the well wishes he and his friends are receiving.”
TMZ.com reported earlier in the day that Ferrell was in an SUV that reportedly flipped over in a two-car accident Thursday night on a Southern California freeway. According to the website, the SUV he was riding in was sideswiped by another car which caused Ferrell’s vehicle to “spin and flip over.”
Video released by OnScene.TV shows the 50-year-old Ferrell sitting on the side of the highway talking to a firefighter shortly after the Thursday night crash. Another video by LA-OC.tv shows Ferrell talking on a cellphone as he sits on a stretcher and firefighters load him into an ambulance. Ferrell reportedly was one of several passengers in the vehicle.
A California Highway Patrol report says a 2007 Toyota struck the right rear of the limousine SUV after veering into its lane on Interstate 5, causing it to lose control, hit the center divider and overturn.
