A man was shot and killed Tuesday night in the West Side Austin neighborhood.

Lavell Jones, 19, was involved in an argument with another with a person about 8:57 p.m. in the 5100 block of West Chicago, according to Chicago Police and the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office.

During the argument, both pulled out handguns and Jones was shot in the back, authorities said. He was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Police said two guns were recovered at the scene and charges were pending against the shooter, but charges had not been filed as of Wednesday evening.
