A police officer and another person were injured in what officials are calling an officer-involved shooting Thursday afternoon in west suburban St. Charles.

The shooting, which involved at least one St. Charles police officer and another person, happened at 12:03 p.m. near Voltaire Lane and Peck Road, according to a statement from St. Charles police.

An officer and the other person were taken to Delnor Hospital in Geneva, according to a statement from the city of St. Charles. The statement referred to the other injured person as a “suspect.”

The intersection of Voltaire and Peck remained closed as Illinois State Police investigated the shooting, city officials said.

A spokesman for Illinois State Police said the agency was investigating the shooting at the request of St. Charles police, but did provide additional information.
