Armed robberies reported on Near West Side: police

A pair of armed robberies were reported early Thursday on the Near West Side.

In both incidents, suspects walked up to people, showed a handgun and took their property, Chicago Police said in an alert.

The first robbery happened at 2:20 a.m. in the 800 block of South Carpenter, followed by a second about 3:30 a.m. in the 1700 block of West Chicago, police said.

A detailed description of a suspect wasn’t provided.
