A 44-year-old man was fatally stabbed early Sunday in the Chatham neighborhood.

Officers responded about 3:15 a.m. to the 7900 block of South Drexel Avenue and found Carl Watkins stabbed in his chest, Chicago Police and the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office said. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

A 26-year-old woman was questioned about the incident, police said. She was later released without charges.

Watkins was a resident of the Woodlawn neighborhood, according to authorities.
