A man found unresponsive Wednesday night in an Austin neighborhood alley was beaten to death, according to authorities.

Kim Edmondson, 29, was found at 9:38 p.m. in an alley in the 5100 block of West Lake, according to Chicago Police and the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office.

He had been struck in the head and chest with an unknown weapon and was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. He lived in the same neighborhood.

An autopsy Thursday found he died of blunt force trauma to the head and his death was ruled a homicide, authorities said.

Area North detectives were investigating.
