A man who was shot and critically wounded Friday morning in the Homan Square neighborhood died over a day later at a hospital on the Southwest Side.

Cordero Weathers, 23, was walking about 9:45 a.m. Friday in the 700 block of South Spaulding when another male walked up and shot him multiple times, according to Chicago police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office. The shooter then ran off.

Weathers was taken in critical condition to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he died at 1:14 p.m. Saturday, authorities said. He lived in Homan Square.

Area North detectives are conducting a homicide investigation.
