Man fatally shot outside convenience store in Austin

An 18-year-old man was fatally shot Monday outside a convenience store in Austin on the West Side.

About 11:50 p.m., Roy Dampier was standing outside a convenience store in the 5600 block of West Madison Street when someone pulled up in a black sedan and fired shots, according to Chicago police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

Dampier was struck multiple times and rushed to Stroger Hospital where he was pronounced dead, police said. An autopsy ruled his death a homicide.

Area Four detectives are investigating the shooting.
