Man dies in Lawndale crash

The 30-year-old was driving north in the 1300 block of South Keeler Avenue when an SUV blew past a stop sign at an intersection and crashed into the passenger side of his car, Chicago police said.

A man was killed in a crash Sunday in Lawndale on the West Side.

The 30-year-old was driving north about 12:10 p.m. in the 1300 block of South Keeler Avenue when an SUV blew past a stop sign at an intersection and crashed into the passenger side of his car, Chicago police said.

The man was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, police said.

He was identified as Kalem Smith of Lawndale, the Cook County medical examiner’s office said. An autopsy ruled his death an accident.

CPD’s Major Accidents Unit is investigating.
