Woman drives into lake along DuSable Lake Shore Drive on Gold Coast

The woman was rescued by a Chicago Fire Department dive team and suffered only a small laceration to her hand.

A woman driving on DuSable Lake Shore Drive lost control of her car and veered into Lake Michigan on the Gold Coast Thursday.

The 51-year-old woman drove off the road in the 600 block of North Lake Shore Drive about 1:35 a.m., Chicago police said.

The car was partially submerged in the lake, and she was rescued by a Chicago Fire Department dive team. She was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital for a small laceration to her hand, police said.

No other injuries were reported.
