Ryan Pace moves fast, will interview John Fox on Wednesday

Bears general manager Ryan Pace isn’t wasting any time when it comes to veteran coach John Fox. According to two league sources, the Bears are scheduled to interview Fox on Wednesday.

Fox and the Broncos parted ways after four seasons and four playoff berths, including a Super Bowl loss to the Seahawks last season, on Monday.

According to a source familiar with the Bears’ coaching search, the team’s focus is on Fox, who is 119-89 in his coaching career with the Broncos and Panthers.

Fox’s connections with the Bears are very apparent.

Pace is close to Saints coach Sean Payton after their eight seasons together in New Orleans. Payton is good friends with Fox after working together with the Giants.

When Bears consultant Ernie Accorsi was in the Giants’ front office, Fox was New York’s defensive coordinator for four seasons.

The Bears interviewed former Bills coach Doug Marrone and Lions defensive coordinator Teryl Austin on Tuesday.

Cardinals defensive coordinator Todd Bowles, whom the Bears interviewed last week, is set to be named the Jets coach, according to multiple reports.
