The Bears named Ed Donatell their defensive backs coach Wednesday.

John Fox continued to round out his new defensive staff Wednesday, naming Ed Donatell the team’s defensive backs coach.

Donatell spent the last four seasons in the same role with the 49ers, working for Bears defensive coordinator Vic Fangio, who was named to his post Tuesday.

He has 36 years of coaching experience, 24 in the NFL. He served as the Packers’ defensive coordinator from 2000-03 and the Falcons’ defensive coordinator from 2004-06. He coached defensive backs for the Broncos from 1995-99 and the Jets from 1990-94.

He replaces Jon Hoke, who the team confirmed will not return.
