ST. LOUIS — Two of the Bears’ most dangerous players failed to make the trip south on Saturday. And while the team didn’t make that information public, a team official said it told the Rams and the NFL on Saturday.
The NFL will look into the Bears’ handling of the situation. The Bears should have changed the designations of Matt Forte and Pernell McPhee from questionable to out when they did not take the team flight Saturday. A miscommunication led to the information not being released to the public Saturday, the Bears claimed. By NFL rule, the team must announce such changes to the media.
Both players, who have knee injuries, were ruled out about 90 minutes before kickoff Sunday. Eddie Royal, who was ruled out Friday, stayed home, too.
Coach John Fox has been tight-lipped about injuries this season, rarely giving detail beyond the NFL minimum required Wednesday through Friday.
