Jeremy Langford joins Walter Payton and Gale Sayers after impressive game

Any time a football player gets mentioned in the same sentence as Walter Payton and Gale Sayers they have done something extremely good. Jeremy Langford’s game Sunday would definitely qualify as such.

Langford helped the Bears win in dominant fashion over the Rams in St. Louis. On the day, the rookie running back finished with 182 all-purpose yards and two touchdowns. He became the first Bears player since Payton to record 1oo receiving yards, a receiving touchdown and rushing touchdown.

The Bears running back piled up nearly all of those receiving yards on one first half catch. Langford caught a screen pass and took it 83 yards for a touchdown.

Langford joined Sayers in another statistical category. He became only the second Bears player ever to twice record 70 rushing and 70 receiving yards in the same game during his rookie season.

In his role as replacement while Matt Forte is sidelined with an injury, Langford has done everything the Bears could ask. While Forte is getting closer, he is still not ready to return from a knee injury suffered during the Bears loss to the Vikings.
