On first look, the best part of the Broncos coming to Chicago for Bears fans was going to be likely their last chance to watch Peyton Manning. After the ugliness of Sunday’s Broncos game and the injury news coming out Monday, the Bears may have very different plans for Sunday’s game.

It was widely reported that Manning now suffers from a torn plantar fascia in his left foot, which may well keep him out of the Bears game. If Manning is out, Brock Osweiler will likely take over the starting role.

It would be Osweiler’s first career start. Teams can struggle against quarterbacks without much history to study. But while almost every team in the NFL lacks familiarity with Osweiler, the Bears know what he’s bringing to the table.

Osweiler was drafted by the Broncos and John Fox in 2012. He spent three seasons under Fox as Manning’s backup.

Osweiler made his first appearance of the 2015 season Sunday against the Chiefs after Manning was pulled from the game. He went 14-24 with a touchdown and interception in the blowout loss.
