About 3:15 a.m., the 29-year-old was walking on a trail near the 3100 block of Lake Shore Drive when she saw two unknown males arguing, Chicago police said. One of them pulled out a handgun and opened fire before both ran off.

The woman was hit in the abdomen and taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center, police said. Her condition was stabilized.

Police said it appears the woman was not the intended target of the shooting.
