Boy, 17, fatally shot in Chatham

He was shot in the head, groin and back and was pronounced dead on the scene, police said.

A 17-year-old boy was shot and killed Tuesday in Chatham on the South Side.

Damieon Rodgers was in a backyard about 4:23 p.m. near 82nd Street and South Maryland Avenue when someone approached him and fired shots, Chicago police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office said.

He was hit in the head, groin and back and pronounced dead on the scene, police said.

An autopsy found he died of multiple gunshot wounds, the medical examiner’s office said.

Area South detectives are conducting a homicide investigation.
