A man was found fatally shot Monday morning in West Garfield Park, police said.

Officers responded for a well-being check about 7:20 a.m. in the 4600 block of West Adams Street and found 39-year-old Derrick White with multiple gunshots to his head in a backyard, according to Chicago police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

He was pronounced dead at the scene, authorities said. Additional details were not immediately available.
