Three teenage boys have been charged with an armed carjacking Friday in Bronzeville on the South Side.

Two of the teens approached the 54-year-old man from behind at 7:57 p.m. in the 4900 block of South Washington Park Court, according to a statement from Chicago police. One pulled out a gun and demanded the keys to the man’s 2018 Nissan sedan.

The drove off in the car, but officers saw it speeding at 4:53 p.m. the next day in the 200 block of East 53rd Street, police said. They pulled it over and took two 16-year-olds and a 15-year-old into custody.

One 16-year-old is charged with a felony count of aggravated vehicular hijacking with a firearm, police said. The other boys are each charged with a misdemeanor count of criminal trespass to a vehicle.

All three are scheduled to appear in juvenile court on Sunday.
