A 30-year-old man was fatally shot Saturday in Roseland on the Far South Side.

Officers responding to a ShotSpotter alert found the man lying on the street about 2:03 a.m. in the 400 block of East 111th Place, Chicago police said.

He was shot in the chest and taken in serious condition to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, police said.

He was pronounced dead about 7:20 a.m., according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office. The man was identified as Jermaine Boykin of Roseland.

His death was ruled a homicide.

Area Two detectives are investigating.
