A 31-year-old man was shot and killed Friday afternoon in LeClaire Courts on the Southwest Side.

Police responded to a report of gunfire about 12:45 p.m. in the 4500 block of South Lamon Avenue, Chicago police said.

Officers and found a man unresponsive in the street with multiple gunshot wounds, police said. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Cook County medical examiner’s office identified him as Rafael Simmons, of East Garfield Park.

An autopsy conducted Saturday confirmed that he died of multiple gunshot wounds, the medical examiner’s office said. His death was ruled a homicide.

Area One detectives are conducting a homicide investigation. No arrests have been made.
