Man killed in Washington Park shooting

Officers responding to a ShotSpotter alert for gunfire found the 23-year-old with gunshot wounds to the right wrist and armpit in the 5500 block of South Indiana Avenue, police said.

A man was found shot to death Wednesday in Washington Park on the South Side.

Officers responding to a ShotSpotter alert for gunfire at 11:27 a.m. found the 23-year-old with gunshot wounds to the right wrist and armpit in the 5500 block of South Indiana Avenue, according to Chicago police.

He was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

The Cook County medical examiner’s office identified him as Dequrion Goodwin. An autopsy confirmed he died of multiple gunshot wounds and ruled his death a homicide, the medical examiner’s office said.

Area One detectives are investigating.
