Man dies days after being shot in Woodlawn

He was shot in the head while driving May 1 in the 1200 block of East 61st Street, officials said.

A man died Tuesday, four days after he was shot in Woodlawn on the South Side.

He was driving westbound about 9:38 p.m. May 1 in the 1200 block of East 61st Street when shots were fired, Chicago police said. He was struck in the head and taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center in critical condition.

Eric Boyd, 34, was pronounced dead at 5:02 p.m. on Tuesday, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office. An autopsy ruled his death a homicide.

Detectives are conducting a homicide investigation.
