Man shot dead in Bellwood

A 28-year-old man was shot to death Tuesday in Bellwood in the west suburbs.

Christopher Weatherspoon was found by officers with multiple gunshot wounds about 11:45 p.m. in the 400 block of 24th Avenue, according to a statement from Bellwood police.

He was taken to Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood and pronounced dead, police said. Weatherspoon lived in Bellwood.

An autopsy Wednesday ruled his death a homicide, the Cook County medical examiner’s office said.

Police said they are conducting a homicide investigation.
