A man who was attacked last week in suburban New Lenox has died from his injuries.

Wayne Deutsch, 39, of Orland Park, suffered multiple rib fractures in an assault at 5:20 p.m. June 12 in the 13900 block of East Illinois Highway in New Lenox, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

He was pronounced dead at 8:39 p.m. Wednesday at Palos Community Hospital in Palos Heights, the medical examiner’s office said.

An autopsy found he died of an accumulation of blood in his chest and ruled his death a homicide, the medical examiner’s office said.

New Lenox police did not immediately respond to a request for details on the assault.
