Two men were killed in separate shootings Wednesday in Gary, Indiana.

Steven Rice, 30, was shot about 3:10 p.m. near 15th Avenue and Cleveland Street, according to the Lake County, Indiana, coroner’s office.

Rice was dropped off at Methodist Hospital Northlake, where he died about 40 minutes later, Gary police and the coroner’s office said. He lived in Gary.

Later that evening, about 6:40 p.m., 18-year-old Jacquice Baylock was shot in the 1800 block of Taney Place, officials said. Officers arrived to the scene and found Baylock suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

He was taken to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead, officials said. He lived in south suburban Lynwood.

Autopsies showed that both men died of their injuries and their deaths were ruled homicides, the coroner’s office said.
