Police are investigating after a woman was stabbed to death July 26, 2020, in the first block of West Root Street.

A 36-year-old woman was stabbed to death Sunday evening during a fight near Bronzeville on the South Side.

Witnesses said she was speaking with a man before a fight broke out and the man stabbed her in the abdomen on the street, Chicago police said.

Officers were called to the stabbing about 4:15 p.m. in the first block of West Root Street, police said.

Enjoli Haymore was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center, where she died from multiple stab wounds, the Cook County medical examiner’s office said. She lived a block away from where she was stabbed.

No arrest has been made.

Area One detectives are conducting a homicide investigation.
