Man killed in Gresham shooting

Officers responding to a ShotSpotter alert in the 8100 block of South Bishop Street found the 26-year-old in the driver’s seat of a vehicle with multiple gunshot wounds, Chicago police said.

A man was killed in a shooting Thursday in Gresham on the South Side.

Officers responding to a ShotSpotter alert about 8:17 p.m. in the 8100 block of South Bishop Street found the 26-year-old in the driver’s seat of a vehicle with multiple gunshot wounds, Chicago police said.

He was taken to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where he was pronounced dead, police said.

He was identified as Greg Gultney, the Cook County medical examiner’s office said. An autopsy confirmed he died of multiple gunshot wounds and ruled his death a homicide.

According to witnesses, a dark sedan drove up and someone inside fired shots into the man’s vehicle before fleeing, police said.

No arrests have been reported. Area Two detectives are investigating.
