Two people were shot, one of them fatally, Friday in Burnside on the South Side.

Two women, 31 and 35, were on the sidewalk about 8:38 p.m. in the 800 block of East 88th Place when they heard shots and felt pain, Chicago police said.

The older woman was shot in the torso and taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center, where she died, police said.

She was identified as Kyra Gray, the Cook County medical examiner’s office said. An autopsy conducted Saturday ruled her death a homicide.

The 31-year-old was shot in her thigh and taken to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn in fair condition, police said.

No arrests have been reported. Area Two detectives are investigating.
