A 41-year-old man was fatally shot Monday in south suburban Calumet City.
The shooting happened about 9:30 a.m. in the first block of Dawn Lane, Calumet City police.
Virgil Anderson was struck multiple times and rushed to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn where he was pronounced dead, police said. An autopsy conducted ruled his death a homicide.
An investigation found that Anderson and the person who allegedly fired the fatal shots knew one another and the shooting resulted from an earlier dispute, police said. A person of interest was located shortly after officers arrived to the scene and an investigation is ongoing.
