Man fatally shot after fight in parking lot in Portage Park

A man was fatally shot Sunday after getting into a fight in a parking lot in Portage Park on the Northwest Side.

He was identified as Jakub Marchewka, of Belmont Cragin, by the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

About 4:30 p.m., the 28-year-old was in a parking lot in the 3500 block of North Austin Avenue, when he got into a fight with a person who pulled out a gun and shot him in the chest, Chicago police said.

He was brought to Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood, where he was pronounced dead, police said.

Area Five detectives were conducting a homicide investigation.
