18-year-old Crestwood man charged with possessing 70 images of child pornography

Charles Martin, 18, was taken into custody Thursday and charged with felony possession of child pornography.

Two people were charged with murder July 4, 2021, in connection with a fatal stabbing from Oct. 18, 2020.

An 18-year-old Crestwood man has been charged after 70 images of child pornography were allegedly found on his phone.

Charles Martin faces a felony count of possessing of child pornography, according to a statement from the Cook County sheriff’s office.

Investigators received a tip that Martin had images of child pornography on his cell phone, which was taken for evidence on March 22 after authorities obtained a search warrant for the device, the sheriff’s office said.

A forensic examination conducted Wednesday and Martin was taken into custody the following day, the sheriff’s office said.

Martin appeared in court Friday and will be required to go on electronic monitoring if he posts bond while the case continues.
