A 16-year-old boy was shot Thursday while getting into a car in Gresham on the South Side.

The gunman approached the teen about 1:45 p.m. in the 8600 block of South Wallace Avenue, Chicago police said.

He was struck in the heel and went to Holy Cross Hospital, where he was reported stable, police said.

No one was in custody.
