A man was fatally shot Thursday night as he stood on a sidewalk in Bronzeville on the South Side.

The man, 34, was attacked about 9 p.m. in the 400 block of East 48th Street, Chicago police said.

He was shot in the face and leg and was transported to the University of Chicago Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead, police said.

The Cook County medical examiner’s office identified him as Detrick Daviston-Yarbrough.

Witnesses told officers they saw someone fire shots from a silver car that fled west on 48th Street, according to police.

No one was in custody.
