A 20-year-old man was fatally shot Saturday night while riding in a vehicle in Burnside on the South Side.

Thomas Anderson was sitting in the front passenger seat of a vehicle traveling in the 800 block of East 87th Place at 11:15 p.m. when someone fired shots in his direction, Chicago police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office said.

He was struck three times in the head and twice in the arm, and was taken to Jackson Park Hospital where he was pronounced dead, according to police.

The driver of the vehicle was unable to provide any information on the shooter, police said.
