Police seek driver in West Elsdon hit-and-run that seriously injured teen cyclist

Police said a red Mazda 3 was being driven ”recklessly” before the crash.

A driver of a red sedan that struck a 13-year-old boy last in March while he was riding his bike in West Elsdon and then drove away is being sought by authorities.

Chicago police released a photo Saturday of the Mazda 3 they said struck the boy about 6:20 p.m. March 30 in the 3800 block of West 51st Street.

The boy was seriously injured in the collision and the driver did not stop to offer help, police said.

The car’s windshield was damaged during the incident, according to police.

Anyone with information was asked to call the Major Accidents Investigation Unit at 312-745-4521.
