Man killed in Near West Side shooting

The man was shot Sunday morning in the 1200 block of West 13th Street.

A woman was shot while riding a car June 11, 2022 on the West Side.

A 27-year-old was killed in a shooting May 9, 2021 in the Near West Side.

A 27-year-old man was fatally shot Sunday morning while refusing to give money to a friend on the Near West Side.

Diqawan Harmon was sitting in a parked vehicle with a male friend about 4:25 a.m. in the 1200 block of West 13th Street when the friend demanded money from him, Chicago police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office said.

Harmon refused and his friend began firing shots, according to police.

He suffered gunshot wounds to his body and was taken in critical condition to Stroger Hospital by another friend who was also sitting in the vehicle, police said.

Harmon was pronounced dead at the hospital, according to police. No one is in custody as Area Three detectives investigate.
