A man was fatally shot in his back Tuesday afternoon inside a home in Gresham on the South Side.

Robert Thomas, 58, was shot in the 700 block of West 76th Street about 2:45 p.m., Chicago police said.

He was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center where he later died, police said.

Thomas dies of a shotgun wound to his back, the Cook County medical examiner’s office said Friday.
