Man killed in Austin shooting

A man was shot and killed Sunday night in Austin on the West Side.

The 31-year-old was standing on the sidewalk about 10:10 p.m. in the 900 block of North Lawler Avenue when someone approached and fired, Chicago police said.

He suffered gunshot wounds to the head and body and was taken to Stroger Hospital where he was pronounced dead, police said. The Cook County medical examiner’s office identified him as Brandon Lee Booker, a resident of Lawndale.

There was no one in custody, according to police.
