A man was shot during an argument after a Jeep struck another Jeep while trying to pass it in West Garfield Park, according to Chicago police.
The SUV that was struck then hit a pole in the 4000 block of West Lake Street about 9:50 p.m. Thursday, police said.
The driver who struck the SUV then got out of his Jeep and shot a 42-year-old man in the leg and hand. The victim, 42, was a relative of the driver who hit the pole and had been in another car, according to police. He was transported to Stroger Hospital in serious condition.
A 25-year-old woman and three children — two 8-years-olds and a 2-year-old — in the Jeep that hit the pole were taken to hospitals for observation but did not suffer serious injuries, police said.
The man who crashed into the Jeep and shot the man was on the scene when police arrived and was taken into custody. Charges were pending.
